Biography
Randy L. Slider, 55, of Middlebourne, was born December 15, 1954 in Sistersville a son of the late William Ralph “ Brandy”and Phyllis Weaver Slider.
Our husband and father went home to be with his savior while doing what he loved most, playing basketball and being with his family and friends. Everyone who knew him would know that even though our human loss is so great “Slider” would want this time to be a celebration of the life he loved so much. He worked at Bayer for 33 years of his life and always had a story to tell about work and his time and friends there and his skill as the Best fork truck driver East of the Mississippi. “Slider” was a master story teller and never missed a chance to talk about his love for basketball and the times he remembered so vividly of winning the West Virginia State Basketball Tournament for the Paden City Wildcats in 1973 and the spot he had as an all tournament team member in 1972 and 1973, with Jerry West being all tourney only once.
When dad was’nt making a joke or talking about basketball he Loved to bass fish at Stonewall Jackson Lake and especially liked camping with mom when he could convince her to go
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Tara Ann Slider.
Randy’s family celebrating his life on earth are his wife Diana “Did” Lynn Potts Slider, son Jeremy Lee Slider and daughter Brandi Ann Slider. He alsoleaves behind five brothers and sisters; Glen Slider and wife Jo Ellen, Darlene Meeks, Boyd Slider and wife Susan, Lee Slider and wife Donna and Gary Slider and wife Wendy.
Dad found a new life in Christ eleven years ago and the miracle of this transformation is a testament to the power of our Lord in any and every life. Over the past year Randy and his wife have shared a blessed growth in their journey with Christ together. He attended Indian Creek Southern Baptist Church, where he helped in the construction of the new building which he said was a miracle because none of those men up there knew how to use a ruler.
