BiographyCharles ( Sam ) Campbell, 79, of New Matamoras, OH, departed this life Tuesday, February 16, 2010 in the Arbors of Marietta. He was born October 31, 1930 in Wheeling, WV a son of the late Charles R. And Rosa Lashhorn Campbell.Sam was a retired employee of Ormet Corporation, Hannibal, OH. He was a United States Army Veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict.He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America and a lifetime member of the NRA and a member of the Church of Christ. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Vaughn Neff Campbell in 1999. A brother Frederick N. Campbell. Sam is survived by five sons; Marvin L. Campbell, Athens, OH, John K. Campbell and his wife Cindy, Jacksonville, OH, Bruce L. Campbell and his wife Joyce, New Martinsville, Keith D. Campbell, Jacksonville, OH and Kerry D. Campbell, Ray, OH. Two brothers; Clifford R. Campbell, St. Hedwig, TX and Charles E. Campbell, Amelia, OH. Two sisters; Regina R. Gammon, Wheeling and Sallie A. Burrows, New Matamoras, OH. Fourteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at Furbee Funeral Home, Middlebourne, 6 - 8 pm Thursday, 4 - 8 pm Friday and Saturday 11 - 1:00 pm the time of the service with Evangelist Roger Rush officiating. Interment in Simpson Cemetery, Lone Tree Community, Middlebourne. Military rites will be performed by VFW Post, 6327, Sistersville, VFW Post 4634, New Martinsville, American Legion Post, 67, Sistersville, American Legion Post, 86, Paden City and American Legion Post, 28, New Martinsville. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Boy Scout Troop 224, Newport, OH or Strecker Cancer Center, 400 Matthew Street, Marietta, OH 45750.
